On October 12 and 13 we hosted five visiting Rotarian businessmen from France.

On November 17, District Governor Dom Tardif visited the club.

On December 15, we held our annual Christmas Party for the elderly. The St. Joseph College Folksingers furnished the entertainment.

Profit from the Christmas Tree Sale was $3,350. 

Visiting the club on Janury 26, was our district scholarship winner, Elizabeth Wildes, currently a student at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. In the Fall of 1976, Elizabeth attended Bath University, Bath, England on a Rotary Scholarship.

Ray Frost, our secretary, wore a black arm band to the meeting on February 2. Our club had sunk to the low position of 50th in District 779 attendance.

We again sponsored Cub Scout Pack 30.

A joint service club dinner was held on April 28, at South Portland Memorial Junior High.

John D. Toft passed away at the age of 90. John was a member of the Rotary Club of Portland and joined the Rotary Club of South Portland shortly after it was organized. He had 29 years of perfect attendance. The club donated $100 to the Rotary Foundation in his memory and sent flowers to Mrs. Toft.

The District Conference was held at The Balsams on June 16 - 17, at Dixfield Notch, New Hampshire.
