Carolyn Nishon, Executive Director
Portland Symphony Orchestra; 99 years young
I'll be sharing where the organization has come in its history, how the organization has evolved over the last decade and a half, and what we dream for and envision sitting on the precipice of a huge organizational milestone.
Bio: Carolyn Nishon has served as Executive Director of the Portland Symphony since 2015. Prior to assuming that role, she led the PSO’s artistic operations department from 2008-2015. During that period, she also participated in the Intensive Leadership training program sponsored by the Institute for Civic Leadership. In 2007 – 2008, she served as one of five League of American Orchestras Fellows, working alongside the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, and the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra and the Aspen (Colorado) Music Festival and School. While at the University of Michigan, she served as an intern with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.  Carolyn received her Bachelor’s Degree in English and Psychology from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), graduating in 2007.

In her spare time while in Maine, Carolyn served with me on the Board of Common Good Ventures, repositioned as Lift360, and she also sat on the steering committee of Creative Portland's "2 Degrees Portland" program. She is currently on the steering committee of the Armenian Cultural Association of Maine, loves film photography, ands spends as much time as she can with her husband and one and a half year old daughter.
